whats that button on the ignition on all M6 cars??
hey guys i never really payed attention that on my car there is that black butten on the ignition right by the key, i think its on M6 cars only, well i remember long time ago when i drove a 98 Z28 i had to press that butten to remove the key and i had to press it again to turn the key! but on my car i dont think that butten does anything! could it be the owner before me disabled it?? or is mine broken??

It is only on M6 cars. You have to turn it in order to turn the car on. From what I have heard, the reason that they put it on m6 cars is so that you would still have to have the key and turn it if your battery died and you were gonna start it buy popping the clutch. That way people can't break into the car and start it with out the key.

i dont think you can start the car by popping the clutch,only if the key is in on part of the ignition then it will start because the fuel pump is ready and the ignition system is ready to spark and the steering wheel will be unlocked

and yea, you have to push it to get the key out too.

yea, that is what i meant, you still have to turn the key to be able to pop the clutch. when i got my 02 it had sat for almost 2 years and the battery died the next day, we couldn't pop the clutch with out turning the key. does that sound right?
and yea, you have to push it to get the key out too.

holy **** your right, now that does make me wonder??? how would i know?? **** but how would i know for sure! wtf maybe the resistor on the key does not work either?

They are just a key release. The reason for them is if you turn you're car off wile going down the road it will not lock the steering wheel and crash. Auto car's do not have them because you have to put the car in park to get the key out.
