The SLP lid is the only one I have experience with, but I had no problems at all.

I have one installed on my 01 Z28, and the trick is to push the lid tabs all the way to the rear into the housing slots before you attempt to secure it with the metal tabs.

I've had three lids and the SLP one fits and looks the best.

let me guess, the IAT grommet kept popping out of the hole when putting the sensor in?

Yea, the grommet didn't want to go in easily. It's a tight fit.

I also used a hairdryer and had the SLP lid. It took some fitting but it never popped off after I got it on.

Just put mine in friday. With a little heat and saliva around the part of the lid that connects to the maf it will slide on easily. I haven't had any trouble with it coming unlatched or rubbing my hood.

Most issues with the clips come from the fact that the SLP lid has to have it's front lip INSIDE the airbox.

So to note, push the lid back behind the front part of the lower airbox then snap on the lid. It'll hold then.

As for getting the MAF on, getting it off the old box was tougher than putting it on the SLP lid for me.

Something you might want to check with any lid:

I can't understand why we pay $100 for somthing that does'nt fit and we take it with a smile on our faces........
Hairdryer this and that. Clips that don't stay fastened. Shave this and sand that. WTF.

the bellow is usually the cause of most poor fitting problems with lids. its either its too tight and not flexible, or just put on wrong.

Hair dryer use is a result of impatience. Take your time, and the lid will fit without any modification.

sometimes the clips do pop open, my friends lid does this so he put twistie ties from bread bags on them, hasn't popped once since, ghetto, but it works

It does fit. The SLP lid is a perfect fit that seals because it is so tight, unlike other lids that use seals. I just heated it up a little bit with a hair dryer to get that little bit of expansion and the lid slid on easily.
