I dont know about you but I pay almost $2000 in tires that last me about 8-10k

Wow 560 is steep (70 bucks a day)...look around...avis is alot cheaper...
look on line for a discount code and you can save alot. I think the last time I went on a trip I wound up getting the car for 24 bucks a day.

Dont let me stop you, its your car...i just like you to consider all options. Good luck on the trip

Yea I had the under the age of 25 fee after they told me they would not put it on there. Tires are no problem, sumo HTR Z II's for $420 shipped. Plus I have to take the vette, my buddies with thier fox body stangs have no idea what their in for.

Sacrifice saving cash for less valve spring life? That's another way of looking at it :/

Dunno, it's a tough choice. Is the vette your ONLY means of transportation? You could definitely make it work if you had to, I would just avoid it if I could.

Edit: You posted an answer already to it being your "only" means of transportation. Show those fox bodies whats up.

The only thing I would stress before a long trip like that is the springs, but you already have that covered. Also be careful racing that far from home, breaking things gets real expensive when you factor in the cost of towing a car home on top of it.

I guess I am one of very few that realized this was a joke, and pretty funny actually.

Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week.

Remember folks, the 9pm show is completely different from the 11pm show!

Some people need to relax just a little. If you take anything away from my post, let it be that some of the thread titles are extremely ambiguous and could use a little more thought.

Wait how much does an aftermarket cam affect drivability?

Not to thread hijack, but I plan on getting a TR 230/224 - 111. Does this mean I'll have to change my v. springs all the time??? It is my daily driver (driven everyday.)

Driveability is all in the tune, spring last an average/should be changed out every 25-30k miles

I did not know this.

Dose spring longevity also vary between the type (quality) of spring?

I would say yes on that one. I know the TSP PRC springs have seen 30k+ miles with no problems and I have heard of Comp springs breaking at 10k miles.

Should be fine. I drove my car 1,400+ miles from CA to OK with the mods in my sig and still averaged over 26 mpg.

Yeah. I talked to Ellis (he will be installing my cam) and with my TR 230/224 - 111 cam with Patriot Extreme springs he said 50k should be doable with them since he says to keep them under .6 lift for DD.

I'll probably change them every 40k to be safe or when I feel like it. At least they are dual springs just in case.

that would be a wise descision...and ur friend is correct...i used to own a 99 SS with a 224/224 112 and i used to take it on 3+ hour trips all the time...i also had 2 round trips at 2300+mi w/ comp 918's...and no probs.....but be advised about racing all night that far from home...just be sure u constantly monitor the oil level...mine tended to burn it

Comp has fixed the problem with the bad 918s. The new ones have blue paint on them. I had them in my T/A with a comp 224/230 581/589. I drove the car on many trips, including a pour tour. I put 20k springs from 40k to 60k miles and never had any issues.
