has anyone noticed a power loss in any of the accessories? dimmer lights or anything like that?

"Actually, you are incorrect. Rotational mass is equivelent to rotational resitence. by placing a load on the pulley you are increasing the rotational resistance, thus increasing the net rotational mass. By spinning the accesories at a slower speed their is less parasitic loss due to their operation because there is less rotating mass."

agreed....i guess what i was trying to say was that you aren't gaining hp with an U/D pulley from having a lighter PULLEY....the gains are from the smaller diameter pulley spinning the accessories slower.

agreed that a small decrease in the mass of the pulley adds to the power increase...but that's more of a side effect.

"has anyone noticed a power loss in any of the accessories? dimmer lights or anything like that?"

i notice my headlights would dim a bit at idle sitting at a light....but only noticable if i was using other powered things like radio, wipers and heater blower....all at the same time. if it was just the lights and radio...i saw no difference.
granted thats with a manual trans.

i think the overdrive pulley for the alt is a wise investment for auto trans cars.

the install is pretty simple...if you have an impact wrench its even easier. this website gives the how-to on the pulley.

no because the underdrive pulley drives all the accessories not just the alt.

but why would you buy and overdrive pulley? just to spin the alternator more so the dimming of the lights does not happen?

You shouldn't need an overdrive alt pulley unless you have extra electrical setups in your car.
