I installed mine years ago, and did notice a power gain, SOTP. But the battery died sitting in line at IRP, so I installed the alternator overdrive pulley and no more issues. I did notice that slow speed turning was a bit stiffer, because the power steering pump was turning slower.
Just be sure and buy a spare belt, because it will no longer be stock, it will be shorter.

If your looking to squeeze all the horse power you can on a bolt on only car I would say to do it. But if your plans are to go forced induction later on, I'd wait because you'd be changing it out.

Is there a rule of thumb when adding a u/d pulley and an aggressive cam?

My thought is, if you add an underdrive crank pulley and an overdrive alt pulley, is that not the same pulley ratio you started with yeah theres more than 1 acc..

dont listen to people that sya its hard to swap pulleys ive done it like 7 times... i didnt have anything more than an autozone pulley puller and a new bolt....

reused old bolt after a few whacks with a rubber mallet to get it started, then slowly threaded new bolt in to press it... never had 1 prob..

A U/D pulley stopped a bad squealing pulley for me so I had no choice but to get one and I definetly felt the motor feel a little looser and it reved easier.
