H/C open engine... wow that's loud

Why wouldn't you just move one of your cutouts to a place on the intermediate pipe where clearance wouldn't be an issue? Should still be plenty loud and flow good at the track.

I'm with RedHot, it is not very loud dude. If the noise bothers you, then do soemthing about it, otherwise keep it. I agree though, you need to do something about those pipes, they are very unstable. I am not sure, but I would think that would eventually lead to some structural problems in your exhaust...

I drive around w/ dual open cutouts. I don't care what the bitch beside me has to say or how much change rattles and jumps out of the useless cupholder in the center console.
Oh, and I love how people think their single cutout in the I pipe somehow compares to duals right off the header collectors. You can't yell across the hood of a 2000 RPM LS1 w/dual cutouts. I parked beside a H/C high 10-second (w/N2O) LT1 and had a lil rev contest. No comparison.

It's not soo much the noise (trust me, i love the sound)... i just don't see them as very practical in my DD situation. Sure i can cap them up whenever i want to, but i'd rather have the peace of mind knowing that going over a speed a few miles an hour won't knock it... as opposed to now where i literally have to creep over them or else my shocks give enough to scrape. It wouldn't be a huge issue if it was just the pipe, since that is round and smooth. But i literally have a "hook" ready to catch whatever can't clear it.
I dunno, it's more for the peace of mind. Everyone thinks i'm crazy though.

i think, if you moved the one on the drivers side back about 8-10 inches you could tuck it a little more, just get the bottom most edge of the flange above the bottom most point of the pipe and it should all be gravy. i was mulling this over in my head, if you point the cut out up a little to where it is no longer a hinderance to GC, and cap it it would be good,
then, when you want it open, get you a short (like 6 inches) length of pipe with a turn down on one end and a 3 bolt flange on the other, you could take the cap off the cut out, and put the turn down in its place. that way it would point the exhaust down and it would still be able to be pointed up for GC when you need it most.
i know its wonderful to lope through a shopping center with the cutouts open, but sometimes you gotta avoid the speedbumps. before i had my duals tucked up where they are now, i was dreadding any speedbump, uneven grade in the road, or driveway. anything. and now that they are tucked, i dont even think twice about it. i know its going to have to be one tall *** speedbump to get to the lowest point of my duals (dumps).

You could just spend a few bucks and get some electric cutouts judt to make it that muck easier. Then you can open and close them whenever you feel like it without any hastle.

I say maybe reposition where they're at on your car so that they'll tuck better and get some electric cutouts (or reduce your cutouts down to one and make it an electric one)...
I've got an electric one and it is so much fun to be driving fairly quiet and then roll up on someone and uncap it with the push of a button and give it 10 kinds of hell..

I live in an apartment complex that has some pretty nasty speed bumps and they are always a PITA to go over, so i say it conflicts w/ daily driving.
I guess to repost a question, kinda off-topic, but how would i further secure my exhaust pipes. You'll notice in my idle clip in my sig, they do tend to shake alot.
I'm wondering what i can do OUTSIDE the exhaust shop to secure the pipes? The only thing i can think of is a hangar, but what would the procedure be and are there any alternatives?
