Default Shipping a Car

I thought there used to be a thread on this, but I need to ship a car from Richmond, VA to New Lenox, Illinois, how do I go about doing this and what kind of price am I looking at?

Do a Google search or look on Ebay. There are a lot of companies offering car transportation services there for obvious reasons.

I used FedEx. Cheap compared to other companies, I payed around $900, from Lincolnwood, IL to Jackonville, FL.

Their transport trucks are covered and the cars are on air lifts (which other companies charge extra for).

I used this company non-sponsor $725 to transport a non running car. They said running cars are slightly less. TX to FL 1300 miles.

Intercity Lines is by far the best in the business and the most expensive.

do an internet search and you'll find everything between a locked covered transport to a crappy dodge dually with a car trailer.

I used uShip - basically like an ebay auction site where shippers bid on delivering your vehicle. You can go with whichever shipper you like after reading their feedback or researching them online and, of course, after considering their quote.

I had an ad on Uship but after 2 months of the ad up I decided to start checking into other options. I sent LSX Transport an email and never heard anything back. I ended up with this company non-sponsor they were extremely good. I paid 550 bucks to ship my ws6 from Columbus Ohio all the way to Ottawa Canada. It's about a 14 hour trip and they only charged me 550 bones. o.

They give you a tracking number to watch your shipment the entire way.

That is a great deal! I don't know how the shipper could make any money on that deal with fuel prices so high.

Definately do your research before you pick a moving company.... i heard intercity lines was the best also.... i recently bought a car in cali, and had it shipped from cali to connecticut!! i used Dependable Auto Movers.... i would have used intercity lines but i was short on time... i did my research on some moving companies and read horror stories... dependable auto movers got 5 out of 5 stars, so i chose them! it was $1000 from ca to ct, but i paid an extra $200 for a speedy pickup date... they picked the car up the next day i told them i wanted the car to be picked up. they picked it up on a sunday and it was delivered to me on friday!
my only complaint was i didnt get an enclosed trailer... my car was filthy!
next time an enclosed trailer is a MUST!
good luck with finding a car mover.

Do a google search for auto shippers in the area of where the car's at. I requested a quote from 3 companies and they gave my info to over a dozen shippers. I got quotes from $295 to almost $900 to ship from Cincinnati, OH to Elmira, MI. Ever the cheapskate, I went with the cheapest one and wasn't disappointed.
