So..... someone explain to me where they got the 6 second 0-60 times with an auto... mine would continually hit mid 5 seconds everytime I tried when it was BONE stock with 3.23s....

Either get better tires or try easing off the gas a little once you get moving so the tires get traction and the wheelspin can't cause the premature shift/bogging.

this guy pegged the problem on the nuts. also, for something to shoot for, ive found your fastest times will come when you just barely slip the tires- a real light quick squeal followed by a hookup. literally, one or two revolutions of the tire and definitely no more. better to bog down for just a moment by not pegging the launch perfectly then to spin the tires all the way through first. as a side note, my stock M6 '98 with a lid at 3500 altitude wouldnt break the tires loose if i floored it from a 5mph roll, so dont feel bad. your car looks plenty health for a stockish A4

I don't even know that much about the LS1's but yea 6 secs definately seems too slow. I've gotten 6 secs flat in my Imp SS and that was with a bad launch.

Its been pretty buried by now..I was at wot in first and spun the tires....no traction equals not going anywhere equals slow 0-60 but damn cool to ride in! I'm dont even care about racing really just didnt know if my car seemed "healthy" enough but i think it is. How much of a diff do you guys think the ls6 intake would make? night and day?

I dont think the LS6 intake will make a night and day difference but it will give you a decent gain, I would say around 10-15rwhp give or take. The sumitomo's suck for straight line performance so tires will be your most effective mod and will cost close to the same as an intake. If you drive it a lot and dont want DR's then you could go with some BFG KD or KDW's or nitto 555's. I averaged around 4.5 on the 555's but i had a best of almost 4 flat once with a 1.89 60'. I would say go with Nitto 555R's for a daily driver, they will get around 30K miles and hook a little bit better than KD's.

the stocker ls1 style intake is a restriction, but more so at more "modded" levels. stockish, if you saw 15 at the wheels youd be doing pretty good. its not a huge gain, but 15 horse is noticeable. night and day would be a cam swap.

if ya wanted more power, and can find someone (or you) savvy enough to do it, a camshaft swap would be your biggest gain per dollar. for something relatively stock, id personally go for a medium cam like a TR224.

if you really wanted to go beyond night and day to a "whole-new-car-feeling," a 1300 dollar cam/heads/pushrod kit from patriot performance is a fantastic deal for your dollar- youd really have some fun then. once you begin to upgrade the whole system like that, a larger cam can be used without as much of a noticeable hit in driveablility.
