I skip shifts, shift at 1500rpm and put it in 6th at 45mph and up, until some kid in an 03' mustang pulls up next to me. then I get 1mpg spinning through first second and third while the kid sits at the light wishing he knew what fast was. LOl!

Me, city driving with 4.10s is awesome. I still get unreal gas mileage in town compared to the 3.42s. On the highway though is another story. When driving I use rpm instead of mph. I know both of my cars get the best gas mileage arounf 1300-1400. I have still seen over 30mpg in my 99 with full exhaust, lid, LS6 manifold and 4.10s with a good tune. Although I have taken just about anything that is a want and not a need in the car. Things like emissions, A/C, panelling, etc...

If you're serious about saving fuel and money, visit this site and learn the best ways for most people. You may increase your mileage a few mpgs. Or, simply purchase a small car as a daily driver and get from 35mpg to 50mpg depending on how you drive.

The biggest gas saver, though, is learning to drive slower and not take traffic passing you as a personal insult.

I'm sure it is, Sparky. I know it was the hardest part of slowing down for me to get over.
I got a very used CRX last October to drive over the winter instead of my 10mpg truck. I saved more money on gas than I paid for the car. And, every year I keep it I'll save over $1000.
Nah, the kids can drive the wheels off their hotrods if they like, I'll just putt along in the sheep lane and spend the savings on new tires for the Camaro and better quality beer in the fridge.

To get more gas mileage I do the Honda mod. I park my Z in the garage, leave my Silverado in the driveway and use the wife's Honda for transportation. Otherwise, my truck will always be a pig and my Z spends half of it's roadtime with my foot up its ***. I burn dinosaurs at an alarming rate! Shame on me.

Keep your rpms as low as possible without bogging, pretty simple. For automatics, let the trans shift as early as you can (I let out at around 2200 in my V6 and it shifts, otherwise it'll take it to 3k over 30% throttle). Also, when you're going downhill, speed up a little if traffic permits. Going uphill its ok to lose a few mph till you get to the top. Cruise control can make mileage worse sometimes because it'll struggle to keep your mph even on a huge uphill slope.
Try and time traffic lights so your coasting to it in case it changes, then don't gun it to get back up to speed. My little 3800 can survive with nothing higher than 2k rpm - so I'm sure the LS1/LT1 crowd can keep it to 1500.
Edit: DON'T inflate your tires to the sidewall pressure. Thats just stupid. The money you'll save on gas (which is minimal at best) you will just spend on tires from prematurely wearing. A few lbs higher than what the door panel says tops.
