If you are driving a V8 and watching gas mileage- you should really sell it and buy yourself a 4-banger- let someone who will appreciate it enjoy that LS1. They are not meant to be shortshifted, kept under the speed limit, etc-
However as far as mods that also help mileage... a turbo can increase mpg till you get over 5-8 pounds

Putting my car on jack stands and syphining out all the fuel while I get a new engine helps.
0 gallons in divided by 0 miles driven puts me at equaliberium with the natural enviorment...
Honestly just shift earlier, don't step on the gas, and make sure you change your oil and keep your intake clean.
Other than leaning out your fuel tables in a PCM tune, opening up your gear ratios, or putting a V6 in the car, you are at a loss in $ with all the other mods. Weight reduction also could help, who needs a spare tire, back seat, carpet, or radio anyways?

these cars do pretty good on fuel for what they are. if you lighten up on the skinny pedal it will help. good luck though i can't do it. too much fun.

Adding mods is the absolute wrong answer.
More air in, more air out? Are you serious?
Does nobody understand how a closed-loop MAF system works? The more air it measures, the more FUEL it tells the fuel system to add. Thus it uses MORE GAS!

Mods such as a lid don't add more air all the time. It's just their so potentially a greater amount of air can enter the engine. The throttle body controls the air flow. I'd think removing any air restrictions would improve the MPG as long as you don't get on it.
