I was looking at one here in Pensacola. Very nicely done car just the way you have described it. The guy took me for a ride and the car was a lot faster than mine with the same mods. It tipped the scales at 2716lbs with the drivr and a full tank of gas. Avergeing 26 mpg. I would have traded him in a heart beat. Good luck

I wouldn't do it. I like the 93+ rx7's but I don't like the look of the older generations. I prefer your t/a.

It's playing out to be your decision here I suppose.

If yes:
Step 1. Take those nasty *** Eagle Alloys off...
Step 2. Enjoy your impestic car.
Step C. Get tired of the stock power (even though the vid already showed LTs) and mod the hell out of it.

If no:
So be it... Do Step C to your car...

I wouldn't trade an LT1 Trans Am for a pre93 RX7 w/LS1.

It's a clean car, but nothing I'd trade the 'Bird in on.

I wouldn't even trade my old ***, leaking, and creaking 2nd-gen for it.

I wouldn't go for it, it's nice and all, however.

FD would be a different story, I do like the older gen FC though.

I would go for it IMMEDIATELY. We'll need more info on his car (username on LS1Tech or V8RX7forum?), but your mods seem to be quite mild, and his car, WITH the LS1, is near 2800-2850. They're very light, very fun, and a sturdy swap. They really don't have all the "kinks to work out" that most people expect from these swaps. If the guy is a local legend, he's probably driven it long enough to get things straight and reliable with it, and he's probably not down on power. All these people saying "if it were an FD" are dreamers. A clean (keyword) swapped LS1 FD goes for 25K+ all day. That FC is a $10K car if it's got some issues.

It's going to be faster in straights and corners. Actually, I don't know of any numbers in favor of the T/A except seating. All I can say is drive it (not just straight) and your mind will be made up.

I'd do it

best of both worlds....

with a little help the FCs look very nice, and aren't an overweight pig............ and you don't have to stand on your head while working on the engine

the FC is a hard to beat platform that is for sure,

We laughed and talked about it for a while and i foolishly just through out the idea of me being interested in trading my transam for the rx7 and he said he would keep it in mind! Later that day he let me know they were having a cookout at his house and invited me and my g/f over for some food and to shoot the **** with everyone. Well later after the track we headed over there fucked around ate some food and then finally started looking at the RX7 everything about this car is perfect the engine bay is spotless and the install is better than a factory install, all wires are tucked nicely and there is not 1 spot of dirt, oil, or grime anywhere in that engine bay. My question is, do you guys think the trade is a good trade? My car currently has the mods in my signature (exhaust, lid, smooth bellow). The RX7 is completely stock has stock exhaust manifolds, has tubular front end beefed up IRS rear some suspension work not exactly sure on what nice big radiator the engine only has 50,000 miles on it also has a T-56. Car has power everything including moon roof and everything works flawlessly, car has all after market gauges mounted in the glove compartment nicely and all factory gauges still work. Only bad thing about this car is there is a quarter shaped spot where the paint has chipped on the rear passenger side fender and that it does not come with a CD player/any kind of radio. Bellow is the movie compilation that he made of the RX7 as he was putting it together, he has over 500pictures of the removal and install of the engine from the camaro into the rx7 and everything that has ever been done to the vehicle its all fully documented and put into a photo album with all receipts.

HA! I was that guy that asked him if he wanted to trade. I wasn't really all that serious, but what he said to you is exactly what he said to me. I know my car is blue books at about $7,400 but it was worth a shot. I know he has well over $8,000 in the car and I was trying to see if he was just frustrated with it or what. I would consider trading plus cash but I don't know if I could bring myself to do it. Swap cars are always going to have problems. It is just the same with this car, the spedo doesn't work and he has already gone though one rearend. Maybe if he would take those wheels off it would even out the price a little. If that Firebird is your DD I wouldn't do it, but if this is just a weekend car I would say go for it.

Unless I am mistaken by the looks of that video I don't think it is a tubular front end (it has the granny swap engine cradle), it is just a turbo II rear end out of another RX7, and based on that the fact that you didn't know the spedo didn't work, everything doesn't work flawlessly. I am sure there are lots of other little issues. Don't get me wrong, it is a great swap but it will never be as problem free as your Firebird. Don't talk the car up in your own mind because you will only be disappointed when it doesn't meet your expectations. Find out more about this car before you make a decision you regret.

Also I will add to this more..

If you want a faster car than yea its a decent trade, but if you care about style at all you wouldn't even consider this. That thing looks like ugh.
