Default LS1 RX7 For a LS1 Trans Am

Was at the track last night and a buddy ive known for a while (a local car legend basically) came up to me talking about some kid in a 01 camaro z28 wanting to do a straight trade for his LS1 swapped 1991 RX7. We laughed and talked about it for a while and i foolishly just through out the idea of me being interested in trading my transam for the rx7 and he said he would keep it in mind! Later that day he let me know they were having a cookout at his house and invited me and my g/f over for some food and to shoot the **** with everyone. Well later after the track we headed over there fucked around ate some food and then finally started looking at the RX7 everything about this car is perfect the engine bay is spotless and the install is better than a factory install, all wires are tucked nicely and there is not 1 spot of dirt, oil, or grime anywhere in that engine bay. My question is, do you guys think the trade is a good trade? My car currently has the mods in my signature (exhaust, lid, smooth bellow). The RX7 is completely stock has stock exhaust manifolds, has tubular front end beefed up IRS rear some suspension work not exactly sure on what nice big radiator the engine only has 50,000 miles on it also has a T-56. Car has power everything including moon roof and everything works flawlessly, car has all after market gauges mounted in the glove compartment nicely and all factory gauges still work. Only bad thing about this car is there is a quarter shaped spot where the paint has chipped on the rear passenger side fender and that it does not come with a CD player/any kind of radio. Bellow is the movie compilation that he made of the RX7 as he was putting it together, he has over 500pictures of the removal and install of the engine from the camaro into the rx7 and everything that has ever been done to the vehicle its all fully documented and put into a photo album with all receipts.

Dude, I'd go for it. I know theres a few that will flame you for not doing it yourself but thats a damn good deal on that car. I've ridden in it and you've driven it, its a beast. Robert did it right, he didn't cut any corners. Honestly, I'd go for it and if you want another T/A, get one when the 5th gen comes out and pick one up for cheap.

I'd pull the trigger on that deal if I was on your end. Can't watch the vid of the RX7 at work, but if its as nice as you described it then go for it.

You honestly think a 5th gen TA is going to happen?? Some people on here are really delusional.

To the OP, keep the TA for sure. Who cares how fast the RX7 is!!

I think he was saying when the 5th gen camaro came out, then pick up another trans am..As for the whole RX7 thing, do what you feel you want to do. They are pretty mean cars with an LSX in them..

Hell no, and FC RX7? maybe if it was and FD. the only reason he want to trade is its probably have some "issues" he doesn't want to deal with....

I wouldn't. If it were a 93 or newer, I'd be tempted, but I'm not wild about those older RX7s. I think the TA is a much nicer car.

I agree.. If the car had the latest body style then it would be much more of a trade... But I don't believe that car looks 1/2 as good as a T/A... It's boxy, the old cluster is dated, etc. etc. etc. I just don't think it would be a smart investment... Plus, when time comes to swap rides (if this time ever comes) then you wouldn't be able to get near as much for the RX7 as you would for the T/A..

I can't check the link from work, but if the car is in as a good physical condition as yours (paint), I would trade it. I used to own a 1988 TII RX7 and the car was a blast to drive. The car's weight distribution is almost perfect 50/50, taking tight turns was an easy job. If he has a working a/c, it is even better (at least here in Cali.)

I wouldn't. Then again, I'm looking for a trans am. If you want to get rid of yours so badly I'll buy her off you.

If your just looking for a fast car I would do it. I dont know the condition of your T/A but I would guess overall its nicer to drive around it. So if its a DD or just a cruise car I would keep your T/A. Another thing to consider is that IF you trade retail on a swapped car isnt goin to be very good. Sure it has a ton of money in it, but that doesnt mean your going to get it all out.
