Points keep track of your **** up's and if you get 36 points they take your license. I honestly don't care about that part because yes, it is only 4 points but ******* points makes your insurance go up and being 23 I don't need it any higher.

careless driving is a bit extreme, but you are at fault...simple fact is you were too close to the car in front of you from the way you wrote it, if you weren't too close then it shouldn't have been too much trouble to stop before hitting someone

not trying to be a dick, but it would be bad if you went into court with a "I did nothing wrong" mentality because of some posts on an internet forum

what are you going to do? tell the judge you have a racing clutch? that's asking for more trouble that's like trying to get out of a speeding ticket because you're car has so much power it just got away from you for a minute

go to court, be polite, explain the situation but leave out the clutch, provide photos of the "damage" it caused and the judge might reduce the charges or let you do a defensive driving course that will get you probation and no points

whatever you do, don't act like its not your fault because if you hit someone from the rear without them just cutting you off then you are at fault. period.

been there done all that...my car still looks like ****

PS: it should go without saying but dress with a tie for court, I've had judges who spend all day dealing with traffic crap and kids in street clothes tell friends how much they appreciate the respect

if the cops come to the scene of an accident they are required to fault one or more of the people involved

sounds like the one you got was a dick though because that does seem excessive

Oh, I am just going to pay an attorney 200-500 to take care of it. That way I know it will be off my record. Because like you all said I really don't have my to argue in my favor but an attorney will find a loop hole or something, they always do.

Sorry to hear about the luck. I'd go to court.

I fought a ticket here in Saint Mary's county. (Like Hazard only more congested).

I faced a reckless driving/speeding ticket. The ticket was written for the wrong speed zone. Judge dropped the speeding and kept the reckless.

Oh well. That's what I get for not paying one of his attorney friends. And the cop wasn't there when they called him so they gave a 45 minute continuence to go find him. Ughhhh!

That seems like a crappy situation, but why would you be trying to downgrade to stock? You could get into the same accident with any car, whether it has 130hp or 500hp.

No, it would have never happen if my idle was steady. Besides, I was already considering it because of the mpg I get which is something like 12mpg. The car is far from being a daily driver and now that my beater is busted I need another car.

I have always been under the impression if there is an accident, someone is at fault. At least around here...the cop at my accident was very nice and told me he had to fault someone, then gave me the most lenient charge possible which was a city ordinance so no points and nothing but a $135 fine.

36 points??? holy ****...In MD, if you get 12 you're fucked and get your license suspended.
I agree with thunderstruck though....you are at fault whether you feel it was or wasnt your fault. blaming a clutch is bullshit. you hit a vehicle from behind. plain and simple fact. thats all some cops need to know. good luck in court though.

4 point ticket! Wow that cop was having a bad day and made yours worse. I've been in multiple car accidents ( including one where my the tire tracks from me lighting them up that led directly to the tree I hit ) and NEVER recieved any points at all. Get a lawyer and fight it. Sorry about your car bro.

They don't decide the points values for tickets, DMV does.

Then don't give me a ticket or give me one that doesn't carry 4 points. Really, why give me one when I have about 1200 of dmg to my car and zero to the other persons car..
