Any one in here use Restore Engine Restorer it says that it restores the compresson and restore horsepower and reduce oil consumption. I have 97000miles no problems yet but might start using if any one else has.

 

No thanks... Kind of sounds like one of those cheap gimmicks that falls into the catagory of the tornado intake device that give better gass milage, or the electric turbo that gives you 67rwhp, ect...
If you want to use something as a precautionary measure go get some lucas oil treatments...

 

No liquid can replace the metal that is lost to normal engine wear and tear. The only way to restore an engine is, well, to restore it...

 

If you want to try something, try AutoRX. I just put some in my car yesterday. I am highly skeptical that it will work, but I figured why the hell not give it a try.

I don't know how much I trust Sea foam in my oil.... It's too powerful for that for my liking. I do like it as an injector cleaner, though.

 

i used it on my jeep and it was 10x better afterwords. I am about ready to use it again. I want to fog for bugs in my town.

I've used Engine restore in the past and it really didn't do anything, but the motor didn't have any problems to begin with. If you don't have any problems, I wouldn't add anything.But if you are having oil burning/smoking issues then thats a different story. Sometimes the smoking/oil consumption can be caused by sticking oil rings. In that case I use Marvel Mystery Oil in the oil and gas. It will unstick the rings. I have a Mercedes that sticks an oil ring about every 6 months.I buy a bottle of this stuff and dump half in the oil and half in the tank and take it for a spin.Within about 10 minutes it stops smoking. If that doesn't stop it, its a more serious problem.

 

don't use that stuff. It's SUPER thick and can gum up the motor. It will clog everything up. I've never used it but heard a couple horror stories from people that have~Cole

My car is not having any problems and on a recent trip to kansas 742 miles away i averaged 29mpg, just had some of this stuff laying around so i figured i would see what you guys thought of it. I am going to try the seafoam any way because it sounds like a good thing to do anyway. I have 97000miles might need it. Thanks again

 

Yeah Seafoam is good stuff. i've used the Seafoam treatment on my '96 Z28 when i had it and my current Silverado it really helped. My Vette just got built so not much cleaning can be done

 

Been using Seafoam since early 2000. The best stuff you can use!

 

I wouldn't fix it if it ain't broke. 26mpg is pretty darn good. I don't know if I would necessarily seafoam it either. The crud and junk might actually be keeping your engine sealed. You get rid of it, you might get blowby.

 

Auto rx is great stuff....it also has some friction reducing agents which prevents wear. Bobistheoilguy.com is an awesome website with tons of information on engine lubricants, oils, coolants, etc. The residents there RAVE about the Auto RX stuff and have many tests to support the results.

 

I used AutoRX in my Cougar. Noticed it cleaned the visible part of my timing chain up a bit and it did bring my compression back up a bit (don't remember the exact numbers). Had tests done before and after.

I use the " restore" in my fullsize Bronco, [ 247000 miles], and while there wasn't what I would call a noticeable improvement in power, it did increase my oil pressure from the normal, but low reading, to about where it was 100000 miles ago.
Thats good enough for me.
