You should be able to bore it out to a 6.0 that is the difference in the blocks. is the bore size. I believe i know they can be bored out to a LS1 bore.

You can not go 4" bore on a 5.3 block.

500 to the wheels or to the flywheel?
If you're wanting 500 to the wheels in an all motor 5.7/6.0 you are gonna have to go pretty aggressive with it and it won't be cheap at all.

I'm kinda puzzled as to why you want to get rid of the LT1 for an LS1? Did it **** out or something? Seems like alot of work and money for not alot of gain.

Hell if it was me I'd make the LT1 a 396 stroker and put a blower on it and wave to the N/A lsx cars while you walk them.

just a thought..

lt1 has 120k something all stock and the lsx sounds easier to mod and cheaper... and yes 500 n/a on motor to the wheels

ahh i was wrong.. not a first... I picked up my 6.0 complete for 400 bucks with everything on it. parted it out and made 600 and kept a bunch of stuff. But you could go with a iron ls1 block but would be a little heavy up there for a N/A car.

Where would you find an iron LS1 block?

To the OP, you are going to have a fairly severe duty race oriented setup to make 500rwhp with a 5.3, with those goals it would be easier to go with bigger cubes and budget parts than smaller cubes and max effort expensive parts.

I meant boring the 5.3 bore of 3.77992 Inches to a ls1 bore of 3.9 inches.

Not that they actually made a iron block ls1.
