Default can i install a cam?

i have a 2000 camaro z-28. has 163,000 miles on it. wouold it be ok to install a cam or would the car not last long if i do?

As long as it has been taken care of, dont let mileage scare you.

Its also dependent on how large of a cam you put in. I would definitly be sure to upgrader my valve train, but these cars are good at high mileage as long as its been taken care of.

i'm pretty sure it was takin good care of as i ought it from the original owner.

I might be a little scared of dropping a lifter when doing the install. the retainers may be a little loose with that many miles.

if you are planning on taking the heads off to put in new lifters anyway, then you will be fine.

(with that many miles I would highly recommend replacing the lifters anyway)

Lifters would be a good idea.. But with all of the supporting mods.. springs, pushrods, oil pump, timing chain, etc.. you will be just fine.
