wow ima dumbass
Is it normal for the the battery to start sparking and **** when I touch the postive connector to it while the negative one is connected? Just want to make sure I didn't mess up one of my grounds or something cuz whenever I make slight contact with the battery and the red plug thing it sparks up a little until I get it fully connected
i know stupid...
thanks!

positive first, then neg. You'll still hear/see minor sparks, but nothing bad. You don't want to make an electrical connection between the pos terminal and the car chassis. BELIEVE THIS!!

He was correct about hooking up the negative last though and here is why. If you connect the negative first and your wrench happens to contact anything metal while connecting the positive lead you will have a direct short threw the wrench...bad. On the other hand if the negative is disconnected and you hook up the positive first nothing would happen if you touched anything other than the negative battery termanel itself.
So basically if you hook up positive first then negative the only thing you need to look out for is touching both battery termanels at the same time. Hooking up the negative first makes everything metal around the battery dangerous to touch while hooking up the positive.
