I found this odd also. They only thing I can think of is scarcity. Most lt1 cars out there today are beat to **** or have major problems. Lots fewer nice ones left than ls1s, so maybe those will command a higher price.

its funny this has been the buzz around tech. I started a tread "losing value" in the bird section just last week after i kbb'd my t/a and was shocked. Seems there are a few more of them and we are all on the same page...great minds i guess...

the most ive paid for a ls1 car is for my 02 ss off the lot
the least ive paid is for a blown motor, blown trans 98 formula 800$
i repaired and sold it, now i regret it, it was a nice car body and paint was intact, normal wer on the interior and paint.
another low priced car bought was a silver m6 80k mile 99 z28 for 3k$ nothing wrong with it all was stock
the owner was a non enthusiast and he thought it used up too much gas.
he didnt care for mods, when i replaced the plugs i think they were the original acdelcos and stock plug wires
so the value of the cars is subjective, depends on condition seller and damage if any, i guess.

Some guy around here is selling a 99 WS6 for $33,000. It has less than 5000 miles, but still. Its not a firehawk, or a 2002, or anything else special...

I agree... LT1 cars in my area are selling for insane amounts.

But LS1 cars are taking a hurting.... autotrader in my area has had the same few f-bodies on there and none are selling. Minus the WS6s, for some reason in my area they are pulling INSANE dough... a dealsership I visit a lot just sold a 2001 WS6 with 96,000 miles for $18,500 cash. Asking prices on them are through the roof.

Location is HUGE! Out here in western NY Fbodys are still expensive. Stealerships will still ask 20K for a low mileage 01 or 02 model. I rarely see them advertised for less then 14K if they have under 100K miles.

But I guess it's supply and demand. Not too many for sale out here so they figure they can jack up the price.

Every 6 months prices drop from KBB. It's July and the new book is out. Once a car reaches 7 years old its value is cut in half. You can buy a 02 C5Z for $25k in good shape too.

He's going to have a L-O-N-G wait.

Yes he is! I know if I had 33K in cash I would rather put it on a Vette with low miles then a 99 WS6. Common sense must elude that guy.

He either needs a sucker with more money then brains to come along or maybe a collector that just wants a very low mileage car to sit in his private showroom. Either way he's probably in for a long wait.

with gas prices soaring i can understand a little dip but there should always be car nuts that want these. i cant picture myself ever driving a rustang. as long as its in good condition i wont sell my vert EVER for under 10k. right now 60k milage. (not for sale) I LOVE IT!

Its to be expected. most cars that are to be considered "collectables" will depreciate for 15-20 years before climbing back up in value.

Case and point the Syclones. I paid $7k for a clean Sy with 70k miles in 03 I could sell it now for double pretty easily.

There are a lot of LS1 cars being wrecked (good news for f body owners and us swap guys )

keep the miles down and the car maintained and you will be fine in the long run.

LS1 parts are getting cheap compared to 3-5 years ago!!

I searched and searched last year for a clean low mileage 2002 around the MO/KS area and finally found one in Jan for 16.5 and I don't think it got a bad deal, hell the BB is still 15.8

I paid $9,000 for my '01 Z28 with 55,000 miles. The car was bone stock and was owned my an older couple that traded it in for a new Dodge Ram. We gave them $8,500 for it and I turned around and bought it. (I sold them the truck too).
