Metal clanking in rear in when slowing down?
When I slow down from a good speed (like 40-50) and try to stop before a light, the rear end makes a metal clanking/raddeling noise. Not sure if that's supposed to happen or not.

is it coming from the rear end or do you just mean the rear of the car?
and by pull the cover I mean remove the 10 bolts on the rear end and check for problems with the gears
if the noise is just like a pop (once or twice when you brake from speed) then its much more likely to be something in suspension

It's coming from somewhere in the rear of the car and it's not popping, I actually assumed it was the 10 bolt but wasn't completely sure. That ****** better not be dying on me, or I'm going to flip the **** out.
I know absolutely nothing about the gears, what should I look for when I take it apart?
Also it's done this for quite a while now (probably a few months), so I doubt it's REALLY serious.

i dont know if its the same thing but ive diagnosed my problem to the rear and in the case of noise it is a clunking coming whenever i let off the gas or put it into neutral and if i were to turn any amount. i'd also like to know the exact issue is with mine so maybe we can solve this problem together haha

with the cover off look for broken teeth, unever wear patterns (some parts of the gears will be shiny and some won't), just loose parts in the bottom of the case
not sure what the inside of the new model 10 bolts looks like in there, but it shouldn't be too hard to spot a problem and I'm sure someone more knowledgeable on these rears should chime in soon

i have the same problem, its been making the noise the entire time ive had the car (about 3 months now) mine does it when im slowing down with it in neutral, or clutch engaged. seems like going around a turn makes it worse. Im not sure if its only when i apply brakes or not, never paid attention, i just assumed my 10 bolt was going to take a **** soon Im subscribing cause i'd like to solve the problem too.
edit: could it be the posi? the newer ones came with a posi w/gears instead of clutches right?

I sometimes have similar issues but it usually goes away after I get the rear fluids changed out but I think the OP's problem sounds more like a suspension problem (loose bolt maybe).

Check your torque arm where it mounts to the rear end. there are two bolts, one of both of them are probably loose. i had a noise and i checked things out and it was the torque arm mounting bolts. i can't believe you have had a noise like that for a couple of months and keep driving it, what if it was the differential? then you would really have a problem. but yea, check those two bolts, i really bet they are loose.
