I did neither once in my explorer !DOH! rolled into the middle of the burger king parking lot, and didn't hit a thing. Kind of embarrasing having someone walk into BK and ask if someone there owns the explorer that just rolled across the parking lot. Moral of the story, don't get distracted when parking your vehicle.

cant leave my DD in gear if i wanna use the remote start so its left in neutral. if there is any question about the incline i set the brake. at work i dont set it bc the incline is towards the parking block, so i just rest the tire against it and usually dont set the brake.

If the car is facing uphill, E-brake + 1st, if it's facing downhill, E-brake + Reverse. Otherwise I don't put it in gear

both. the gear acts as a back up incase the ebake cable breaks for some reason. and vise versa, the ebake holds the car incase for some odd reason it pops out of gear when parked, or something just lets go

So where do you work again? Love to come and push your car elsewhere and then have you wonder how it could possibly have gone anywhere!

Same here, like clock work. And when I get back in I do the following steps EVERY time:

1. Right foot depressing brake pedal
2. Left foot depressing clutch
3. Right hand letting down e-brake
4. Right hand starting car
5. Right hand on shifter and off we go...Unless Reverse is needed of course! Or vice versa.

If I'm starting and not moving immediately then step 3 would be removed and step 5 would be taking the shifter out of gear and slapping it back and forth a few times to ensure it isn't still in gear before I let my foot off the clutch and brake. Why put my foot on the brake if I'm not going anywhere? Habit mostly and partially because I don't like the weight of the car falling back on the brakes harder than necessary. Or the transmission for that matter.

Only ebrake unless on a STEEP incline/decline. I don't know how many times someone has driven or moved my car and left it in gear, then I go out and start it only to have it learch forward saved by the ebrake from going over curbs or through walls, lol.

Exacly my thoughts. I Don't park my car on step slopes, and the E-Brake should be fine for flat surfaces. Also, if you get towed I would rather replace my ebrake then my drivetrain.
