So this Saturday I went to the dragstrip for the first time ever in my life. It is an 1/8th mile track close to Macon.
My first pass, I dumped the clutch too quickly, had extremely bad wheelhop, and landed a 9.95 second pass, with a r/t of 2.25. Yeah, pretty bad huh? My second pass I did much better on the launch. I had a 2.3 60ft and ran a 9.5 second.
After that I raced against a 2002 Mustang Cobra that had some work done to it. I again ran a 9.5 second and he beat me by about 2 1/2 car lengths. We raced one more time with the same results.
Overall though, I had a tremendously great time, but I know that I have alot of room for improvement. I was very worried about breaking my stock 10 bolt, but all went well. I look forward to doing it again!

My first time at the drags didnt go much better. I had just bought my car, and it had some horrible pepboy tires on it. My fastest time landed me at 14.0 flat (in the 1/4) with a 2.7 second 60 foot time. I cant remember the the trap speed. I was pissed at the time, till i realized that if i could shave my 60 foot down to a decent 2.0 or 1.9 that would have netted me a 13.3 or lower. My r/t was also junk, but were talking over 4 years ago so i cant recaill what it was.

i just went to the track for the first time also with my lid only trans am. mines an auto so its alot easier to learn how to launch, which means everything in drag racing. you really need to get that 60' down and invest in some drag radials. my 1/8 mile e/t was 8.9 which is about average, so next time shoot to break out of the nines. oh and fyi there are no 2002 cobras except for about 100 limited production ones
, that i highly doubt you ran into. esp. since he would have beat you by alot more than 2.5 cars.lol the new edge cobra's were made in 99 01 03 04.

Congrats man... Its deffinatly not easy launching w/ a manual car, but for your 1st time out, not bad at all. Just get some more seat time and everything should fall into place over time. This is one sport that you cant learn in a weekend!!
