Is premium fuel required?????

good point!
[QUOTE=ChocoTaco369;9891751]This article is all theoretically based. The author is saying "because the purpose of the electronics in the car is to protect the engine against knock, it always does this." It's a bogus statement. Electronics aren't 100%. They are prone to failure....
Eexxacttly!
The electronics are there to protect when we don't/can't run the car like it should be (fill up on regular in a pinch, etc.); not to be a full-time substitute for not running the machine with the fluids/gas/etc as it was designed for.
Right on.

Like you said, the electronics are there for emergency situations, not for full-time use.
That article cracks me up. They give the example of a MERCEDES where the manual says premium fuel required. You can afford a MERCEDES, but an extra $3 per fill-up is going to kill you? WTF are these people smoking? If you're going to buy a 400hp V8, expect to pay a little more in fuel or DON'T BUY THE DAMN CAR. It's absolutely asinine.

The first thing I did when I got my TA was to read the owner's manual. The second thing was to price replacement parts: engine, tranny, rims, other drivetrain parts, etc. Ouch! Suddenly, a few extra dollars per fill up for premium didn't seem to bad................

when i bought my ws6 I was told to use premium.
thats mostly all I use except a few times that I have used 89.
But I can really tell a difference when running 93 runs wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better
