Ethenol in gas burning o2 sensors?
I was talking to a 30+ year mechanic today, and he mentioned that the ethenol in gas is really bad on engines for high performance vehicles. He also said that it burns out the o2 sensors. I dont know if he was full of it or not, but Im not putting gas that has ethenol in it anymore.

I've been burning ethanol for 25 years and I've never burned out an O2 sensor. I think some people just get a kick out of speading false info about ethanol. There's so much of it out there.

I also was told ethanol was bad for o2s from several mechanics that are very trusted in my area. I know its bad for gas mileage. I filled up with none and got 21mpg and with running the same exact trip got 17mpg that sucks pretty bad!

Still using the stock O2 sensors on my 98 after doing full exhaust. Ethanol is mixed in with the fuel we get up here. All I notice is if I get gas with ethanol content, my mileage goes down.

i do believe that information on todays engines and oxygen sensors is a myth i've been running gasoline with 10% ethanol since day one in my DD (98 Olds Intrigue) and the original oxygen sensor lasted until 160,000 miles
