I'll be honest and say that there really isn't an exhaust that will make the V6 sound better. I had a '99 Firebird before my Hawk and I looked everywhere for a good sounding exhaust and nothing I heard sounded good. Once the 3800 gets in the upper rpm's, the tone sounds like a 4 banger unfortunately.

My advice is to get an e-cutout and retain the stock exhaust so your friend can have the extra power when he needs it.

This is probably in the wrong section btw.

I don't think you can get a deep sound from a 6. I've heard 6cyl F-Bodies with loud exhausts, and it sounds loud, but not any deeper than stock.

He ought to just leave it stock, and accept that he has a V6 and it's just not going to have that sound.

I got a 2002 V6 and I got a SLP loudmouth and everyone says how good it sounds. Its made for V8s but if you get it installed right it will fit right on a V6.

I've listened to a number of sound clips, and decided that with my 6 I'm just staying stock. Not worth trying to find something that sounds good because there really isn't anything that does.

sorry man, you cant make a V6 sound like a V8. i spent my high school years trying to make my 6 sound good. the best i got was cutting the cats off, still did sound as good as a V8.

i did the same. it sounded like a damn airplane with no cats, and a flowmaster. those 3.8's never sound good, no matter what. the only ones that are acceptable are the old GN's with the turbo, even then it sounds terrible but makes up for it when you mash the gas
