I have the Vigilante 3600 and absolutely love it! I will probably go bigger when I cam it. I don't DD mine but I wouldn't hesitate to DD my 3600. It was like a whole new beast when I put it in! I grinned like an idiot for weeks. Knocked a solid 1/2 second off my et even on street tires, but it will burn them clean ****** off if I want.

I would stay between 3000 and 3600. And I would go with wither Yank Vig or Edge..all three are top notch. Stay away from Fuddle (thats what I used to have and hated it)

Yank ss3600 is probably the most popular daily driver converter. I have one myself and would definitely recommend it.

I would get the Vig 3600. If you have ever had a stalled car before and don't mind driving a high stalled car all day then get the 4000. But personally I would stay within the 3200-3600

At first, the sound of a 4k stall really scared me. But after I bought the car with a Yank PT4000, I don't think I would ever go smaller for an LS1. This stall REALLY puts the car in it's powerband.

It takes about 2k-2500 to keep up with traffic around here depending on how fast it's moving, and a 4000rpm blast feels like a kick in the head.

Easily the best way to have some scoot.

how would a 3600 hundred stall change gas milage? like if i coupled it with a shift kit and some 3.73's. i dont mind it going down a bit.. so long as it doesnt drop a huge amount.

It really depends on what you are looking for out of your vehicle. You posted timeslip specs, so does that mean it is purely for drag racing? Your concern about daily driving is a common concern among (potentially) new converter owners. Having worked for B&M and designed some converters for them, I would highly recommend you take a ride in similar cars as yours with different converter setups. This will give you and idea of the driving characteristics of a stalled vehicle, wether it is a 3000 stall or a 4000 stall. Next, familiarize yourself with converter terms, see Yank and Precision Industries websites for explanations. Lastly, talk to the converter company of choice to help you decide on the best converter for your application. I have seen many under-stalled vehicles, and many over-stalled vehicles, let the experts help you select the right converter for you.

So long as the converter has a lock-up clutch, your mileage shouldn't vary at all on the highway. City driving, especially with 3.73s will take a big hit. The bigger the converter the more of a city mileage hit you will take.

My 4000 stall A4 with lockup got 23.5mpg with 2 people, 4 wheels/tires in the car, running AC the whole time, and driving 75-80mph with an occasional punch. I think it will easily go 25-26 driving it nice without the extra weight. 3.73 geared.

Around town, I don't know, and don't care. I didn't buy the car for a good daily, and I don't expect 20 out of it. With your foot out if it you should get mid teens around town.

Get a big stall, and have fun with it. If you're looking for MPG, sell the car to someone who wants power, and buy a Toyota or Honda. There is no better bang for the buck on an auto than a stall and gears.

Don't cheap out on a converter. I did, and I wish I hadn't. Go with a Yank or Vigilante.

yeah, i figure i'll buy a nice stall over the winter while the CETA is parked. I'll be getting some daily runner crap soon so i dont care about losing a little MPG. i drive mostly freeway anyway.

Go search on the A/T section and you will learn to stay away from TCI. They have taken out more than a few trannys. My Yank is great but there other good ones out there as mentioned above. Circle D makes a nice one too.

Good advice here. I dd my yank 4k stall and have no problems. Hell I wish I went with a pt4000 or pt4400.

PT's have too much shift extension (5800-5900) unless you are spinning 6700+. Stick with a SS if you go Yank. Shift extension about 4800-4900.
