Yeah thanks for the help. I get it. So it doesn't really matter if the block only is a ls6 or ls1 if all the internals are ls1. I just thought I'd see if there was actually any difference at all between the two. I guess some seller try to market their car as a stock T/a with a LS6 so people who don't know any better will think that car is faster than the ls1. I'll admit it, I'm a Mustang guy and know just a little bit about GM cars but I really like the Trans Am and I'm trying to educate myself so I can make a educated decision when it comes to buying one. Again all help is appreciated. When it comes down to it 6>1 right!?

Mine has a LS7, cause I said so.

No, really the rest of the info is very helpfull.

I also really wanted to know the differences between the LS1 and LS6.

It's intersting that GM never had a option for a F Body to get a LS6.

Oh well. . . . . . . . . . .

I just had a brand new 01 LS6 Long block installed in my car...so my car actually has a LS6 in it Due to my LS1 takin a **** at 43k with a hole in piston # 5...(bought it from the dealership that way)

other wise, a LS6 block with LS1 internals has no more power advantage over a LS1 block/LS1 internals.

LOL! No not from the factory. I got it as a crate engine from Scoggin Dickey when the original LS1 took a **** one me. The original engine did have the LS6 block though. I fully know that the complete LS6 never was available.
