Trailblazer SS or SRT-8 Jeep

I seriously considered both and ultimately decided upon the TBSS. I took delivery of my AWD '06 in Dec '05. It stickered for $40,255, but after incentives and some negotiating, I bought it for $32,700.
I've always admired the SRT-8 Jeep and have been entertaining the thought of trading up in 2010 when the 6.4L Hemi is said to arrive, but what keeps me away is how harsh the Jeep rides.
I had the opportunity to drive one at length and while straight-line performance and cornering and handling is impressive, I was quite disappointed in the ride quality. I love taut suspension, and it felt great while the road was smooth, I also felt every ripple in the road. I hit an expansion joint on the highway and where my TBSS would shudder slightly, the SRT-8 jolted me upward while the axle banged loudly.
Is that enough to keep me away? Probably not if the 6.4L puts out 500 hp as been reported but if the price tag eclipses $50K, I don't know if I'll be ready to spend that much.

My dealership has both, and the SRT-8 is twice the vehicle. The TB SS is no slouch, but the SRT-8 is more comfortable, rides better, much faster, ect...
The SRT-8 will also most likely come at a premium price.

As far as Jeep reliability, my '97 Grand Cherokee has served me very well for 8years and almost 100k (136k total mileage on it).

Working for Jeep I have drove many of the srt8 Jeeps and I am in love with them. They NEVER come in with problems only oil changes. The biggest problem I see on these jeeps at all is the pinion seals other than that I would say they are pretty reliable.

I have a TBSS and my friend has a SRT-8. Stock for stock he is faster but not by much. My SS was $12,000 cheaper than his Jeep and mine is a 3ss. With the money I can go alot faster if I wanted to. I get about 17mpg on average between city and hwy driving doing the norm not killing it while he averages 13mpg. I like the style because not to many people have either one. Mine rides better but his handles and feels more like a sports car. After use for a while his does rattle more than mine but cant tell with the radio on. Mine is to use for the family and trips it works great and still fun to drive even hauling car seats. just my two cents O Mine went 13.7 just tuned 2WD and his went 13.4

Money has everything to do with your decision, unless you've somehow found a cheap
SRT8. The SRT8 absolutely guzzles gas, has massively expensive brakes, etc. I think the SS offers more potential with way more widespread parts choices and those who will work on it and tune it. I work at a Chrysler Jeep dealer. Stock for stock, it isn't a race, but for the money difference, I wouldn't mind being a little slower.

The responses are less biased than I thought, but still pretty biased.... I still can't believe a 2009 model SUV still has 4-speeds! I mean its still got the ***** to back it up but imagine if they had an A6 LS3 TBSS, maybe they can borrow it from the new C6s. Even better fuel economy and performance. I still like the SRT8 Jeep interior more but if it came down to an A6 LS3 TBSS vs a Jeep SRT8 it would be TBSS hands down

Well the economy is **** right now and brand new SUVs are going for under invoice, what do you expect?
