Default ls6 intake, egr question

I just bought an ls6 intake from a friend, and ill be removing the egr when i install it this weekend. So....I ordered the blockoff plate for the exhaust manifold from ws6store.com,

but,

do i HAVE TO remove the AIR at the same time? or can i just get rid of the EGR for now?

i honestly have no idea what the AIR is; ive always driven a mustang and they dont have this.

Nope, no need to remove AIR when doing a LS6 intake install.

AIR pumps fresh air from the lid into the manifolds when the engine is operating in open-loop mode. Purely for emissions stuff. I.e, the intake has nothing to do with it.

I think you're confusing it with LTs, where you often need to remove both EGR and AIR.

There should be a small (about 1" outer diameter) rubber hose going out of it on the drivers side.

However, I'm not sure if the 2001-2002 models even had that, so it might not be on your car depending on what year it is.
Do you hear a high-pitched whining noise for a couple of minutes from the front left corner of your car when you start it cold?
If so, that's the AIR pump working..
