Default Speeding Tickets!

Ok so I got ANOTHER speeding ticket today... that makes my 3rd since about this time last year.

I live in Michigan.... Each is worth 2 points(5 over)

Does this mean I will be needing to do classes or anything? Or is it just another warning type ticket till some real consequences?

Just curious lol..... dumb popos have nothin better to do lol

depends on how old you are about the classes....but even if you dont need to do them, I would. Each class takes off 3 points off your liscence and lowers your insurance...you can only do one class every 18 months.

if your under 21, the court is gonna make you take the class anyways.

If they were all worth 2 points, then they must not have been on an expressway. 5 over on one of them is 0 points but a pretty hefty fine.

On a side note, if and when you go to court, try and plead with the magistrate and have him/her allow you to do the class to reduce the sentence. Never plead not guilty for a speeding charge, or they won't give in when it comes time for sentencing.

Just my $.02

Ya... none of them were on the highway..... Just seems like whenever I am running late for work and speeding a little bit there is ALWAYS a cop waiting for me. And these cars run soooo smoothly at 70MPH....

Is 6 points on my license going to do anything or is it 8 that is bad?

On a side note.... Is there a cop scanner or radar detector or something I can get to help prevent this in the future?

get up earlier so you're not running late for work duhhhh.

jk.

i got a radar for free but it definetly woulda been worth 50 bucks. saved me a bunch of times. i definetly don't depend on it to save me but it's a nice reminder when you're not paying attention.

I don't do alot of highway driving... Are they even worth it if you take mostly back roads? They always seem to pop over hills and snag me!!

I'd imagine it only reads what it sees :S

can't you use a traffic attorney? my moving violations get turned into equipment or parking tickets. it cost a little more than double vs a guilty plea but i make that up in my insurance not going sky high. pretty easily done around here at 19mph or less over the limit.

the only radar detector worth buying is the Valentine V1. 400 dollars of radar proofing bliss. it's got the longest range out there so unless the cop is a good 4 miles out and has a laser with no cars in front of you. you're not going to get busted. period. the range is so far that any on off laser is picked up, when it hits cars ahead of you. the only thing better than a V1 is a CB radio and you hearing the transmissions of where every cop is parked.

ehhh my radar does pretty well around town. picks up cops around turns and over most hills as long as you have a car in front of you that gets clocked first. for the lowest end cobra i can't complain.

i got an Escort 8500 that and the Valentine 1 i believe are rated the best in the world. Escort goes for 300ish and Valentine 400ish. mine has saved me 95% of the time i would say. unless they are running laser. i have only had 1 ticket in the last year and 2 in the last 3 years.. i have calmed down on the speeding though.. i guess it comes with age..

A radar is definately a good investment. I've used the ~$140 cobra one for a while now and all though it doesn't always save you once you are topping out your car by any means, and people will always say that they are pointless because you are already caught, but I couldn't count the number of times that there has been that Cobra or something right beside me wanting to run em and then we don't because the radars are going off. They also work great on the highway/interstate as cops constantly have their radars on in those situations.

I had no idea the V1's range was that good. I know you can get the little screens for them, where can you mount the main unit that it is still effective, yet out of sight? That's my gripe with radars and add on satellite radios, I don't like stuff hanging around.

my radar doesn't hang around. it's mounted up above the rear-view mirror. passengers in my car have no idea it's there until it goes off. it's hidden under the tint strip so you can't see if from the outside, and it's hardwired in so there's no wires or anything. pretty stealthy if i do say so myself.

i have an on off switch mounted under the dash and have it wired to a radio fuse so when the car goes off, the radar shuts off.

nahhhh. if the signal can make it through the glass of the windshield, i'm sure it can make it through the extra 1/100th of an inch of tint film just fine. radios pick up radio waves, not light.

yes it does filter some of the signal lessening the range. Look at the V1 site and you can learn a good bit about radar and radar detectors.

i guess i was wrong.

oh well. i'd rather have a slight decrease in range than obstruction of view tickets.
