Default Car battery

After 9 years, I think it is finally time to replace the original battery. Any opinions as far as optima vs duralast?

Wholly cow, 9 yrs. I'd go back with another Delco if the 1st one lasted 9 yrs.

The car was sitting for a few weeks. I am sure a good long drive would do the trick (to recharge it, it isn't totally shot), but with winter coming, I don't want to get stuck somewhere. I didn't think I replaced the battery since I bought it, and I was pretty surprised to see the delco still in there. I guess they did one or two things right. I can't imagine the duralast being much worse than what I had. I was just wondering what others replaced their batteries with (if optima was worth it)...

optima's are great batteries and last a long time. it will probably be the last battery you will buy for the car.

9 years? did you not start the car much? Optima is best if you're going to replace it!

It has under 50,000 miles, I don't drive it too much (the last couple of years at least.) Funny thing, this was the first time my car didn't start since I left the dealership - I came home with it on Oct 6 1999 and car didn't start Oct 5 2008. Exactly 9 years......Maybe an optima yellow birthday gift in order?

If you want one that last a long time, you might as well buy one of those expensive lightweight batteries. Every little bit helps in out "lightweight" cars
