Just sold my 1999 Z28, automatic with 116k on it. It was in excellent condition, and as clean as any car could possibly be for being daily driven for 9 years. Hell, in the past two years I had replaced the shocks, replaced the transmission, and repainted the front bumper and hood because of damage from a rock truck throwing several quarter sized rocks at the car.
www.fquick.com/Aronz28- Just to give you an idea of how nice the car was.
Sold it for $6600 yesterday. I really don't understand, I see Trans Ams or SS Camaros selling for a lot more in worse condition. Hell, I've seen some nice LT1's get $5-$6k, and they all have like 60-100k miles on them.
Post up how much you paid for/sold your fbody for.

Just bought my '02 SS Camaro, 41xxx miles, 6spd, Arctic White, T-tops, black interior and leather, new Kumho 275/45/17 front 315/35/17 Nitto Rears, w/cam, heads, headers, borla exhaust, slp intake system/TB/MAF, Complete Spohn torque arm and underbody braces, tower brace. All that for $9k, yes $9k. Sometimes ya just find a good deal I guess. Just keep your eyes peeled and anything well below blue book is worth it if you don't have to put a ton back into it.

A. Cars are NOT an investment.
B. Heres what you should do: buy a car you like, drive said car until it does not drive anymore, repeat.
Don't be surprised with losing a substantial amount of money when you sell your car. Domestics have a bad reputation while imports are supposedly gods .
I used this to my advantage when I bought my 2002 Z28 for $6700 several months ago (and that was during the summer, when the price should be higher) and it had 96k on it. The guy simply just drove it to work and its in good shape.
Summary: Don't sell unless you absolutely HAVE to.

To be honest Fbody resale doesnt really suck at all. Its just that Z28 resale sucks. The car could be had for almost 24k MSRP if you had a base model. Almost 10 model years later you sell it for 6k WITH over 100k miles. Thats PRETTY DAMN GOOD.
Look up some WS6s and SSs for sale. If its an 02 and has less then 40k people want and get around 14-16k for it. Thats HALF of the freaking MSRP pretty much. For a car that is almost 8 years old.

If you want to get good resale, come trade the car in at a dealership here in Cleveland. They'd give you a ridiculous price. Hell, they had a a base TA with and A4, ripped leather, and 70k miles for 16k. I can't imagine they gave much less than that for it too. This area sucks for trying to find F-bodies. Dealers KNOW they're rare, and anyone looking for one is willing to pay for it.

The SS and WS6 seem to have a bit more premium. As a whole KBB seems to drop the value like a stone. A car is only worth what someone is willing to buy it at. Most if they have a brain go by KBB. Enthusiasts are willing to dish out that extra premium.

Exactly. The M6s hold a NICE premium over anything else Ive found out too. When searching for my Formula it was such a PITA to find a M6 for sale. In the 8-9 months I was looking I seriously found 3-4 cars that had under 50k on them. Trust me I looked HARD.

Bought my 01 Z28 A4 29k mi w/leather bone stock last winter for 9500. I thought that was a good deal. But I do see them going a little cheaper. It seems SS command a higher price.
