i just picked up my TA last month. Its a 02 WS6 with 10,000 miles on it i paid 22,000 for it the thing is mint, but I know what your saying when i sold my 2000 Z28 a couple of years ago I didn't get anywhere near what I thought I would for it. Need to get a C5 or C6 to hold the value a little bit better, but you can find C5's for a pretty deal so who knows LOL

original poster AronZ28 drove the car 9 years and lost $15K but the 2nd owner will drive it 5 years and only lose $1-2K, After that it will level out, then appreciate. Just the nature of the beast. If he had bought a Silverado LT for $26K in '99, today he would have to pay someone to take it off his hands, with gas prices the way they are.

A. Cars are NOT an investment.
B. Heres what you should do: buy a car you like, drive said car until it does not drive anymore, repeat.
Don't be surprised with losing a substantial amount of money when you sell your car. Domestics have a bad reputation while imports are supposedly gods .
I used this to my advantage when I bought my 2002 Z28 for $6700 several months ago (and that was during the summer, when the price should be higher) and it had 96k on it. The guy simply just drove it to work and its in good shape.
Summary: Don't sell unless you absolutely HAVE to.

My procharged ls camaro i have now (for what i bought it for) will not loose its value.. fact is- i dont build these new gen camaros up- i buy them already done- and let the fool who put 50+g's in it, and then buy it off of him..
Just kinda hard to say that ALL cars are not investments.. cause they are- its how i make money on the side.. buy right, sell right.. take the money to the bank- and do it all over again..

I've never looked at my car as an Investment of of something as having a re-sale value. Part of the reason I bought, I wanted a cheap toy. I say cheap compared to the cost of a LSX Car at the time I bought it, which was in Apr. '05. I've got a little over $20k in mine right now, it's not the cleanest, but it'll rape some people on the street, and put out low-11's in the 1/4 mile..
Mine's been through a little bit of hell, needs some minor body work, but Engine and Drivetrain wise it'll be sound and bulletproof once the T56 goes in it. If it wrecks I'll part it out and drop what I can into something else, more than likely I'll get a clean '94/'95 4th Gen Camaro, preferably a V6 Shell, and transfer everything over, if I even do that. I might go oldschool and drop a 402/T56 combo in a '69 Chevelle..
I'm payin about $30/month for insurance, and no car payment for it..more mod money most would say I guess..but I spend it on other stuff that I need and want to do.
Mine's the same way..
I just got tires of shredding Autos' so I'm throwin in the T56, less maintenance, and time for more fun after having the Auto for 3 years.

Funny how the truth always gets labeled as crap by people who don't agree with it.

The majority will look at the KBB value. If that guy would've went to a Dealer and wanted $18K+ for a trade in Value toward something, they would have laughed in his face..tis the truth.

Worth on paper, and worth for resale is 2 different things.
Tell you what, I've got $11,000 CASH, find me a 2002 WS6 with under 10,000 miles on it, no paint work, not smoked in, and not driven in salt with a clean title and I'll buy it. Ebony interior, and a M6 are my requirements, no black cars.
I'll be waiting for links and phone numbers, but you can't deliver, your just another guy who runs his mouth on the internet.

6600 for a "10 year old car" with over 100K is pretty good. Most that age are bringing 1K -3K. So F-body's might be worth more than you think. Your Camaro is not anything great.

Slow,
Honest answer please. In today's market. Would you spend 22K on an 02 WS6 wth 22K miles on it when KBB states that tradein is only 11K or would you take that 22K and buy a C5?

I could have bought a C5 or even a Z06 but i WANTED a clean WS6 and there is no way that I could have found one that clean ever again. I had been looking for over a year and finally found it. It is up the person what they are willing to pay every WS6 that i found was either a A4 with high miles or a beat up six speed for around 16-17k why not spend a little bit more on a low mile car that you know has been cared for its whole life. I don't give a **** what KBB says and that may sound stupid but after looking around for so long I decided that it was a good deal compared to everything else around here.
