Gauges going nuts - Video Inside!

I went out for a few runs this evening, and my gauges decided to go nuts.

Anyone know what's causing this / how I should go about fixing it?

dude lol wtf? umm i dont know if the 98's did it but i know the 99's hav a issue if the battery is low the gauges would go all crazy like yours until the alternator charges to the right amps. your problem seems more like a grounding issue maybe behind the cluster you might find the culprit could be a cracked solider or something simple

I've had the alternator not charge and my gauges didn't go crazy like that . . . yeah I'd take your cluster out and see if anything is loose.

check your positive batterycable. mine started to rub on the compressor pulley and did exactly the same thing. also check all of your engine grounds one could be loose

dude, that was crazy as f*ck!! I'd be leery of taking my car up that high if it's goona do that?!

I have a 99 and it did that once, and it was because of a bad ground. It wasnt crazy like that though, it was just the gauges sweeping on startup. That is some crazy ****!

Power doesn't change at all. The engine functions normally.

Tiresm0ke, what ground was it?

My gauges have done "the sweep" at startup a few times, although not in the past while.

It was actually just a loose negative terminal on the battery. Your problem sounds a little different though, but clean all your grounds and terminals with a wire brush and baking soda/water
