Default Bad BCM? Clicks every 10 seconds?!

Got a 98 Z28 and the door locks aren't working by the remote or by the door switches. When you press the lock/unlock buttons you can hear the bcm click but the locks do nothing. Also when the key is turned on or the car is running the bcm clicks about every 10 seconds for no reason. If this is the bcm could I get a used one and does it have to be programmed to my car? Can anybody do it besides a dealer? Thanks.

I want to know as well! My car recently started doing that with the locks, drives me nuts. I don't use the remote anymore, I use the button on the door and punch it several times until it locks. Or I manually lock the door then hit the lock button to arm the alarm. It is random, it works fine usually but every so often has fits. No 10 second clicks though, just the click when punching the door lock button. Unlock always works.

Related to this - would that cause the alarm to go off? One evening every time I locked the doors the alarm would go off a couple seconds later, but only blare twice, then quit. Had to lock without the alarm for the next day or two. Been fine since though...weird.

Sounds like the BCM-I would pull the multi-plug connector off and see if any moisture got in there or if its loose .I see a new one is about 170.00. If you geta new key fob remote the BCM will learn it- so it should work the other way around. But check connections first.

Found the culprit, it was the courtesy fuse, didn't know it had anything to do with the locks but I guess it does. The clicking went away also, don't understand why a blowed fuse would cause the repeated clicking but at least it's fixed.

Courtesy fuse? hmm I'll have to check that and the connection to the BCM. I hope it is just something minor like that, last thing I need is my BCM to go all wonky on me, this car has cost way too much $$ already

What is a BCM and where is it?

Mine doing the same with the clicking, no dome light and no power door locks. Replacing the fuse, blows it out right away (burnt 2 today). What should I check first?
