Heat shields make for some nasty sounds. ^^^ If you find some loose try to drill a hole in them and use some wire to piece it back together. Several girls I have known would not drive their car it sounded so bad... the culprits, heat shields. Literally a 10min fix they freked about. As soon as I took the cars out I knew exactly what it was. Very distinct noise.

Some years ago, I had my ENTIRE exhaust system removed including the cats and I would bang them all around on the floor looking for something stuck in them... Couldn't figure it out.

I went to the dealer, and the tech reached straight for one of the exhaust sensors... It was loose, but it's rattling make it sound like there's something metal rattling around under the middle of the car.
