Default Car won't start...HELP ME!!!

Sooooo...some how I ran my car dry on gas with out even knowing it. I don't know how the hell I didn't notice I was low b/c I never let it get below 1/4 of a tank. Car completely shut off on me, so I went to the gas station in the winter beater and filled up a gas can and filled the tank half full. Went to start the car and nothing...car just won't start...it hesistates but nothing. It's been like 2 days and still nothing. What could be my problem here ...other than sheer stupidy of running the car til it was dry ??!?!?

Common for the fuel pump to burn up when the car is run out of gas since the fuel cools the pump - fun to get to the pump too................

When you turn the key "on" right before you start it, do you hear the fuel pump prime itself? If you do, just keep cranking the **** out of it. If you don't, check the fuel pump fuse under the hood. If thats ok, maybe you did burn the pump up. If the pump is fried you probably didn't run out of gas, you probably just lost the pump while you were driving. I've never heard of a pump burning up by running out of gas. I've run out of gas 5 times and my pump is just fine still.

FUEL, AIR, Spark...... Start by presing the schrader valve on the fuel rail and see how much pressure is there. If there is plenty of pressure, your problem lies elsewhere.

Fuel pump is dead. The pump cools itself with fuel and when you run it dry they tend to over heat. Very common problem with GM cars when you run them out of gas.

You have to find out if fuel is making it's way to the injectors- here is a tool for 13.00 at Harbor Freight:http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=92699

Well I replaced the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump fuse under the hood and still nothing. The fuse was burnt out so I figured that would solve the problem, but no luck. Can't hear the fuel pump at all so it looks like I'm in for a real fun time. Any other suggestions or tips that are gonna help me on this journey?!?

If you don;'t hear it prime each time the key is turned on, its dead.

Get a Racetronix set-up.

What I would do next is verify that the 12Volts coming out of the relay on the gray wire( for a '99 T/A) is actually making it to the pump. But you may have to drop the tank to access that connector as well as the pump itself. I've decided a long time ago that if faced with this repair I would cut the floorpan for access- it's a choice you'll have to make-but you should check the voltage supply before buying the pump just in case.IMHO

I have a 98, so I'll check if such a wire exist. I was told about cutting the floorpan to access throught the top to avoid dropping the tank, I think I'm going to take the hard road

So I looked for the Racetronix fuel pump, but it looks like they only make it for 99+ ls1's only. Is this true?

What's the normal fuel pressure at the rail when testing with the fuel pressure guage? Since it's a schrader valve, could you just use a standard tire guage - or is the fuel PSI too high?
