What kind of noise? If it's a rapid clicking sound could just be the battery.

Is it a fast tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick? Could be the voltage regulator. But yeah, it could be the starter too.

If it were me, I would go get a new starter at PepBoys or Advance and put it in, doesn't take long to change it out. If it works, keep it. If it doesn;t you can always return it for a refund...just clean it up.

On the bottom of the engine block. You will need to get it up in the air to change it.

If its a rapid tick, and engine does not turn over. Check the battery first under a load. If battery is low, charge up and retest. If the battery test good and it starts check alternator & wires to alternator for problems.

If it does not start after you are sure the battery is good. Check power and ground wires, then starter. Hopefully it is something simple. If you need help give me a call.

That sounds like the battery not the starter. Mine did that when the battery died (it was 10 years old, came with the car off the assembly line). How do you know the battery is good? How old is it?
