Anyone Had To Replace Their Tension Pulley?
I believe mine is on the way out. It makes a ticking sound, like you would think it was coming from the head, but it's not. It's very loud on start up and barely noticable when the car is warm. I'm certain it's not anything in the head, though. Anyone had this problem? It started soon after I did my cam/ASP pulley/full exhaust. Any ideas?

Re: Anyone Had To Replace Their Tension Pulley?
On my old '98 the ac belt tensioner popped right off the car after a nice long drive to dallas.....had some spirited driving invovled
I have one laying around due to the fact that the car was totalled before I could put it on. If you want to avoid issues you can take the tensioner off and put the belt somewhere safe til you can replace it. Better then hearing something pop off the block mid-trip. I picked mine up from a dealership, factory replacement, if you're interested drop me a line, we can work something out. Good Luck!!

I'm going to check all the pulleys this winter. That will be one of my winter projects. Anybody else?

I replaced my tensioner pulley with a Larry pulley because my car kept throwing belts after WOT runs. It's been about two months since I installed it and it seems to have fixed the problem.

You describe ticking. When mine started to crap out, it began to squeal, not tick. Since you just did a cam, did you change springs, too? If you did, you may be hearing noise from the valvetrain and not the pulley. After awhile, mine quiets down, too. The 918's I used are slightly louder than stock so I'm wondering if that's what you hear. The timing is just too uncanny.

Mine squeels all the time now, this is right after I replaced the power steering pump. The rear seal on the pump was leaking and the belt/pulleys were soaked in fluid. I'm not sure what is squeaking, what's the best way to determine exactly which of pulleys and/or belt are making noise?

You are right, I meant ticking, not squealing. Sorry. I have no idea how to determine which ones are making noise. Start replacing them? Anyways, that's a winter project for me anyways...
