Is this a fair price for a tune up?

dude doesn't anyone see he might have something on the worker/owner (?) of the shop i would like to know how a spark plug can cost $20 that isn't even possible for delco's... are they ASE certified you my friend might have something to call the BAR about and might have a case... think about how many other people this guy is ripping off...
oh and no i don't mean a case like a lawsuit but you might get some money back if anything at least for the plugs
and not to be a jerk but i lol when you put down that he gave you 100 bucks discount cus he does this type of thing for your parents
and yes to the person that keeps posting it's normal we all agree that there shops do flat rate and charge you full time by the book... this is the reason we do our own tune ups and any other job we can do with our own tools... to the OP i will say once again if you think something isn't right it probably isn't next time walk away and ask for help from people that might

There might be laws against "price gouging" which is exactly what was going on. I know shops overcharge on items they even get less than retail on(!), but never to this extent.
Honestly, 01Bird58 as I stated before all you needed to do this was a smooth surface (your driveway, or even on the side of the street can do) a jack (which your car should have come with) and a simple box socket wrenches.
But as long as your car runs better and you are happy with it then I would say to forget it. It's over and done with.
The more I look at your signature the more I am starting to believe this is a joke. No one who has done a cam swap should not also be able to change their air filter.

ItsNotStock, I didn't perform my own cam swap, I had a friend do that for me. (Now that I got a sweet deal on). Aside from oil changes, changing the air filter, refilling the coolant and appearance mods I pay someone to do work on my car. As far as performance mods go, I always did tons of research on here and would try to get the best part/set-up for the cheapest price possible. However, for a tune up I figured there was not much I can do and it would be similarly priced wherever I go (which obviously was a mistake).

i hear ya man.. you have learned...
i think what you should do..
1. approach mechanic with one/all the options we gave you..
2. find someone near your area to help you next time and possibly show you how to do it.. (most of that stuff can be done with tools (under 20 bucks worth) and right in front of your house in the street..
glad you at least know now...

For starters lay off the kid spark plugs are hard enough to do when u know the tricks.
It depends how deep into it he's going. Mainly the fluid change, if ur talkin just radiator flush, oil change, and tranny pan flush then yeah that's a horendous price. But if he's gonna do a tranny flush, as in drop the trans and empty the torque converter too, 1000 is'nt that far fetched. Either way, a full trans flush is very unnecessary at 65k

01bird58,
If there's one thing to know from all of this. Unless you have something fail or damage something....you won't need to touch any of those things for about 50,000 miles. Do your rear-end fluid change soon though. That should only cost you about $50.00 and 30 minutes of your time. Or get the guy who did your cam change to do it. You need to buy a gasket, fluid and a 3 oz. bottle of stabilizer from the dealership.
Other than that, you're set for a few years. Except for a new air filter every 5,000 miles and oil changes.

^Thanks for the heads up on the rear end fluid, I will look into it. The air filter I have a K&N which is good forever, so I just clean it out every now and then. As for the oil, lately I have been changing the oil filter ever 3K and the Mobil 1 synthetic 10w 30 ever 6k. Read on some threads in here that changing the oil in this pattern is totally fine (but this may spark some heated debates)
