Can you show me a pic of where/what you are talking about? I'll go do some troubleshooting...

not to hijack but I don't have the charcoal canister in my 2001 Pontiac Firebird Formula. Is this normal? Also, let us know what you find out about your car.

Is everyone having this issue driving a 2000? The GFs car started doing this today.

I do not believe it is an EVAP issue. EVAP (like when you take it off) will click the gas and be a PITA to put in.

This problem literally shoots the gas out, it isn't ever making it to the tank, it just sits there.

So it is something in the filler neck, yes?

Your vehicle more than likely has canister and all the other evaporative emission items, you just can't see it because it is above fuel tank. Service procedure calls for removal of full tank to replace canister vent valve.

We have had the fuel spitting out during fueling problem many times in our shop and don't think it has ever not been a faulty canister vent valve, maybe a time or two charcoal canister failed too.

Good Luck Everyone, Chris

Homers Uncle... You can access all these just like you would the fuel pump in a trap door?

I know there is more than one way to skin a cat, I have not tried the trap door method. We still drop the exhaust, rear end and fuel tank. I checked out some youtube videos of how to perform trap door procedure and I don't see any way to reach canister or the evap. vent valve. I think you will still have to drop the tank partially to service valve. I remember looking the other day and book time payed 3.7 hours to service evap. vent valve, so there is some time and difficulty involved replacing it. Hope that answers your question.
