Default Oil Pressure Bouncing

I recently changed my oil in my LS1 Camaro and now my oil pressure gage spikes with high rpms. I used 10w-30 Royal Purple, and I think the previous owner used 5w-30 Royal Purple. Also I didnt use 5.5 quarts, probably 5.2 (somewhere around there) because I figured it didn't drain completely. It idles just under the 40 mark and stays there until 2 rpm but beyond that it spikes to the 3/4 (60 mark) but I didn't rev it too high too be cautious. What could be causing this??

Oil pressure is supposed to increase as the engine works faster. What you've described sounds about right to me. Well, except for the type of oil you used. Why would you use 10W-30 when service standards call for 5W-30? Service standards also call for 5.5 quarts, not 5.2...

ive always found this to be normal. watch an acceleration run or 2 on youtube. watch the oil gauge and they will do exactly what yours is doing

The oil pressure seems kind of erratic. It spikes to the 3/4 (60 mark) at near 3000 rpms. That doesnt seem right to me. I have never really noticed this before.

If it doesn't seem right to you then swap filters and see if it changes. IIRC Royal purple tends to run a bit thin at operating temp.
