Default oil pressure question?

Car 2001 WS6
oil red line 5w30
miles on engine 16,000

Question, should I be seeing oil pressure up at 60-65 at start up and while driving @75mph just below 60. At idle it is about 50 and when you stand on it it goes up to about 65-70. This seems high to me. Any opinions? I have had to have one engine replaced becasue of a bad oil pump and do not want to have another one replaced. Dealer had the car for 33 days.

Default Re: oil pressure question?

its a little hight, but i wouldnt worry about it to much. if it was low pressure that would be another story .

my ported ls6 oil pump has about 50psi at cold start idle and at WOT goes near 70-75psi

Default same but different

My 2000 WS6 idols at just below 40 but at 70 mph can be at 65-70psi. Also, recently I made the mistake of getting an LOF at Rapid Oil Change. Prior to this my pressure was always around 40psi +/- 10 psi. Now a week later I have the above pressure, my oil change light started popping on and now today my check gauges light went on . Can you help? Thanks alot! [B]

High oil pressure is a lot better than low oil pressure, doesn't seem like anything to worry about. The inital oil pressure will be a little higher at start-up than after the car warms up, that's normal. 50 psi is not that out of line. IMO , you're ok .
