Default so the wire for the horn is broke on my car

on my 98 firebird 3.8, u can take the airbag cover off the steering wheel and see where the horn wire is broke by the spring and it just laying lose. so could i just buy the 'horn wiring' kit from Advance/autozone and re-wire it to the stock horn? or do i need to buy a new horn too? and if i buy a new one, then should i get the low tone or high tone horn?

everytime i try to take a steering wheel off at a junkyard, the wire breaks in the same spot.

this should have gone in the general maintenance and repair section....

can you snap a picture of what you are describing.... because if its as simple as a wire, cut it, and splice a new section of wire into it and reconnect. you shouldnt need any type of kit.

but then again we dont have any clue exactly what you are looking at

so, then re-connect the wire together...... if its as simple as it sounds. go to the parts store. buy some wire and connectors and put it together.

Do you still have the black plastic sleeve (with plastic pins molded in it) on the wire? Usually, the wire is fine and the white plastic "socket" it locks in to breaks and no longer has anything to grip the pins.

If that's your case, you need to take the top part of the column apart and replace the cam (its the piece with the socket molded in to it.)
