i have some over heating issues. around town it stays just under 210 but while driving down the highway it shoots over 210 quite a bit. i thought maybe it was exessive heat from running lean(poor tune right now) or the t stat. but i looked under the car and found coolant seeping from behind the harmonic balancer down the timing cover, down the left side of the oil pan and collecting at the bellhousing. anyone ever have this problem? do i need a new waterpump? i have a 160 tstat sitting around and thought of trying that but if the pump is shot i would like to get an ewp.

You need to change it anyway if its leaking, so get that done.
Usually, overheating while on the higway means you have something obstructing the condensor like a newspaper or something crammed up in there....or a bad front lower air dam.
But yes, the t-stat could also be sticking closed partially and not opening all the way.

Yes, I agree that you need to change your water pump because it will lock up and throw the belt shortly after it starts leaking. You could take the thermostat out for a day or so just to see if that's the problem.

i just replaced my water pump 2 weeks ago.
when i got the car i thought 210 during nomrla highway condistions were normal, until i stratred smelling and VISUALLY SEEING the coolant dripping from my car.
we located the leak, which was the water pump. replaced it and now during normal highway miles the car baaarely gets up to 165/170ish. it hits 210 if i'm sitting in traffic, but once it opens up it falls back down to 165ish.

I know it's not leaking from a gasket. I replaced them when I did my camand had no problems. As the car sits for a day or more the coolant seems to slowly seep from somewhere and pool inside the harmonic balancer. I have seen it drip from there onto the front of the pump and down to the oil pan and so on
