SOLVED!!!

I took a small rubber sanding drum (without the sandpaper on it) on a small pnumatic cutoff wheel and used it to spin the various accessories and pulleys.

Turns out the drivers side idler (between PS pump and alternator) was making the noise. Removed, regreased the bearings inside as per the how-to on this forum, and the noise is gone... for now. We'll see how long it stays gone.

Good thread...I have the same problem with my WS6.

I've been having to add Power steering fluid in, keeps getting low on me. I guess I'll have to bring it in to the mechanic.

thanks... but it turns out my problem had nothing to do with the PS pump

Grrrrr

Mine is making the same noise.

I bought a new power steering pump 8 months ago, so I assumed it was that, got it warrantied, bought a new water pump............all chasing this sound.

Guess I"m heading back to autozone
