Default Help quick! Please!

So some electronics were acting funny in my car the other day. I replaced the alternator and cleaned/tightened every ground i could find. Car ran great.

I decided on my way home from work today to give it a little gas to about 4k rpms....

both volt meters immediately dropped to 12 volts on the nose(i have an aftermarket autometer too for piece of mind because of my audio system)

could this be the alternator? maybe it was defective? PLEASE HELP

Could be a failing alt or a failing battery. Gotta have them checked.

Is your excitor wire ok? They sometimes cause that problem too.

Could also be something as simple as the belt is slipping.

They wear out over time, if you have a good number of miles on your car and haven't changed your belt yet, give it a try, they are cheap and if that's the problem, its a very simple solution. If it's not the problem, you have piece of mind that your belt isn't slipping.

Its the little tiny red wire that plugs into the top of the alternator. They cause problem before they totally fail.

The belt slips because the tensioner spring is broken or starting to break. Then the tensioner needs to be replaced as well....could be a variety of things.....
