Question Right Hand Turn Noise

Ok so I have a noise, sounds like a flat tire sound almost, happening only when I turn right. It sounds as though it is coming from the rear of the car. I have put on new tires, with no real change, and the wheels/calipers/axle tubes do not feel hot to the touch after driving for a long period of time.

I also have spun the wheels, driveshaft, and wiggled the wheels with the rear jacked up and found nothing really wrong. How can I diagnose what that noise is or does anyone have an idea? It isn't crazy loud, but it sounds different when turning right as opposed to turning left... Thanks for any input.

Wheel bearings? They tend to make noise like that, and can be LOUD! check it out.

I had the exact same issue. It makes a "whirring" noise when you turn that direction. It was a wheel bearing. A wheel bearing hub assembly is like 120 bucks. That should solve the problem... Hope this helps

The front hubs were changed last year with new GM ones, I don't think its those but I'm going to check.... Could it be the front ones though since it changes when turning? Would the back ones make noise when u turn?

Turning could place more stress on a back wheel bearing, thereby intesifying the noise it makes. Get the back end up in the air, secure on jack stands please, and then grab each wheel and give it a good shake. If you notice considerably more play in one than the other, you've found the culprit. Otherwise, maybe you have a flat tire

haha yeah, the rear tires are brand new so I ruled that out.

I jacked up the rear and had no play in the wheels/tires when I shook them and wiggled them.

I am tempted just to change both bearings and seals with new gm parts, but I am kind of worried it won't help.

Any other ideas?

This sounds like a plan to prevent the noise.

Have you had anyone ride with you? A passenger may get a different persepective on where the noise is coming from. Are you running stock size wheels and tires?

The tires/wheels are all stock in size. I have not had someone ride with me yet to hear it. I will do that tomorrow and see whats what.

Just one of those annoying things, I am planning on driving it 2000 miles for vacation soon and I do not want a problem in the middle of nowhere.... Thanks!

Unless you some how flooded the rear end, the oil will be fine. You might check the level, though.

Just got some Napa made in America bearings and GM Seals. I am going to try and change them out and see what happens. I'd rather check it out before I trash my axle shafts just riding on bad bearings... Hopefully this is the problem, I will be posting my progress....
