Only if you promise to never call another vacuum bottle a Thermos unless made by them.
It is correctly called Freon if it's made by DuPont.
If you really want to be picky, we could all call it 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane.

The HP and LP switches are in the back side of the compressor. If you look there, you'll see a pair of wire connectors, one on each switch. You'll have to look in a book to see which is which. The switches are held in by snap rings, and have an oring around them to seal. About $25 ea. at NAPA.

I've never seen an A/C system in or out of a car that didn't have lo/hi pressure switches in my time doing this. Now it could be that all they are is a sensor relaying info to the computer, which inturn is controlling things.

These are not on the 98 ls1 compressors.
There is a high pressure sending unit, that has pcm control for both high and low pressure cutoffs thresholds. There may be more inside the cabin, but exterior that was the only sensor when I reinstalled an ac system in a 1998 formula. There is a clutch connector on the compressor.
