First winter w/ my SS ??
My plan right now is to leave the car ( uncovered ) outside all winter. A little snow won't hurt.... right? I would hate to spend $500 for a storage unit. I also have the option of leaving it in a barn for $100. What do you guy's without garages do in the winter months? WINTER GRRRR..

If it were my car I'd buy a cover and leave it outside
as long as it wasn't on a busy street. If it would
be safe, I'd leave it before I'd put it in a barn and have
a nice surprise of mice and rodents in the engine compartment
come spring.

I would purchase a cover, I bought the one out of summit, the wolf one, and it is great. I wouldnt recommend leaving it in the barn, small rodents and birds could make their home in your exaust and reek havok on your car. Good Luck man

throw a cover on it and put it in the barn, just stuff rags in your pipes and anyother holes for rodents, also fill your gas tank as much as possible and put some stabil in it to keep the fuel fresh. my .2c

Move to SoCal and drive your car 365 days a year!
Sorry, that was mean and probably impossible for you. I guess there are only a lucky few that can drive around with the t-tops off some days in December!

Definetly cover it... snow wont hurt it... but I'd be leary about the ice (ice expands and contracts w/temperature... and it's doing this while it's sitting on your paint)
Stuff rags in the tail pipes and put some moth ***** (or i've heard of people spraying an amonia/water mixture in the engine bay) to keep the mice away... I'd be weary of the barn because the Mice to square foot ratio is probably pretty high.. and it only takes 1 determined mouse w/a bad sense of smell to cause some problems under the engine bay...

My better half gave me the O.K. to rent a storage unit for the winter months. It's a little strange that last year... BEFORE THE RING... I didn't even think about asking such things

DO NOT put mothballs in the car or engine bay.
1. They don't repel rodents.
2. The smell NEVER goes away! YUK
Example. I had a 81 Z in storage in a detached garage. The owner of the garage had a dog run next to the garage. Well mice moved into the engine bay and found the intake very cozy. So I tried the moth ball approach, I though the more the better so I put TWO open topped boxes in the engine bay. Well come spring time, the moth ball boxes were full of dog food. So instead of warding the bastards off I provided free safe storage of their food. Then insult to injury the damned smell lasted FOREVER!
Thought I'd share.
