Default Is it worth it to just upgrade spark plugs?

Hey guys, I was considering buying some of the high end plugs for my 02 bird, but is it a difference or gain in just doing that.
Or do you need to change ll the wires and ignition coil as well to fee a difference . If there are any benifits to this let me know or is there any harm to this.

Thanks

Unless you're running nitrous there is no need for a "special" spark plug. Stick with the AC Delco Iridiums.

If you have a stock LSx all the way up to a 600 RWHP LSx......there's no plug that is going to change the performance of that engine. Use NGK TR55 plugs gapped to .050....thats the best you're gonna get. $16.00.

And yes, some people say they get better performance out of those super-duper special plugs and they claim better mpg......yeah!

What it is they may feel is just that brand new tune up for the first ride, compared to the old nasty plugs that were in there. Sure it feels better. Its now running like it should.

I've tried a few different types of plugs in my 427ci the first year I had it just to see what would happen. Waste of time and money. Never saw a bit of difference between any of them. NGK all the way. And don't get Bosch, your engine might be like mine....it will not run with those plugs.

No idea how long the ird's last....but NGK's can easily last 50,000 miles. I think its NUTS for anyone to run plugs more than 20,000 miles though, especially in a performance engine. Regular grocery getters and luxury cars, no big deal. Even though I did my mothers Dodge Mini Van at 35,000 miles, $12.00 and 30 minutes, why not....

Its just way too cheap to let them go longer.

Ya know, I am definitely curious about those things. They told me they were $24.00 each.

I might, for the hell of it, just to satisfy my curiousity, run them in my new engine after I put 5,000 miles on it. Just to see what changes, if anything. Mainly to see if the gas mileage gets better as they claim.

http://www.densoiridium.com/faq.php

iridium is more durable than platinum so it'll have a longer life,
aside from that the center electrode is smaller in diameter which reduces the voltage needed for the spark to initiate and jump the gap to the ground strap of the spark plug, this will result in a more reliable spark at high rpms, or when there is increased cylinder pressures such as from nitrous or forced induction- higher cylinder pressures require more voltage for a spark to jump the gap, or the spark plug gap needs to be smaller.
And this is all independent of spark plug heat range by the way.

I know, its just ridiculous. Thats some serious marketing to get me interested...I look at almost everything as complete BS and just hype. But I think they're guaranteed. I'll send'em back for a refund if they don't do anything.
